GOLDen Times | Issue 4 | April 2025

Greetings, Augie Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Alumni!

Welcome back to the monthly GOLDen Times Newsletter. My name is Latesha Lee, and I will be taking over the April edition of our newsletter. I’m excited to update you on what the GOLD Council has been up to. As a member of the Marketing and Social Events Committee for the GOLD Council, our committee creates engaging, fun events tailored to help alumni create community with other young alumni.

A little bit about me: I graduated from Augustana in 2019 with a double major in psychology and women, gender, and sexuality studies. I was a member of Sigma Pi Delta, Title IX Student Committee, NAACP and Black Student Union. I am currently working as a social worker. In my free time I like writing for my blog, playing with my two adorable kitties or reading.

In this edition:

➡️ Join the GOLD Council!

➡️ After Augie Podcast episode: personal finance

➡️ My podcast recommendation

➡️ Class notes

➡️ Augie fun fact

➡️ Upcoming events (coloring and Women's Weekend)

Happy reading!

Podcast recommendation of the month

How to be a Better Human is a Ted Audio Collective that you can find on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. I really enjoy this podcast because it gives great, honest advice. How to Be a Better Human isn’t your average self-improvement podcast. Each week, join comedian Chris Duffy in conversation with guests and past speakers as they uncover sharp insights and give clear takeaways on how you can be a better human.

From your work to your home and your head to your heart, “How to Be a Better Human looks in unexpected places for new ways to improve and show up for one another.”

Augie fun fact!

The Gävle Room in the Gerber Center is named after the city of Gävle, which lies roughly 100 miles north of Stockholm in the Swedish province of Gästrikland. Traditionally, Swedish immigrants departed from Gävle for the United States — some of whom went on to found Augustana College!
